eBee Africa is a pan-African e-mobility company with operations in the East African region, specializing in the selling and renting of e-bicycles and operating a fleet of last mile delivery riders. We aim to create sustainable jobs for women and youth, and reduce the carbon footprint in African cities. We are currently operating in Kenya and Uganda.

Role Summary

The Workshop Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring the efficient intake, diagnosis, repair, assembly, testing, and delivery of electric bicycles and related equipment. The role oversees workshop staff, maintains high standards of quality and safety, drives productivity and operational efficiency, and ensures excellent service delivery. The Workshop Supervisor plays a key role in maximizing fleet uptime, maintaining workshop compliance, and delivering a positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Workshop operations management.

    • Supervise all workshop activities including receiving, diagnostics, repairs, assembly, testing, and dispatch of e-bikes.

    • Plan and allocate work to mechanics based on skills, workload, and service priorities.

    • Monitor repair turnaround times and ensure timely completion of work orders.

    • Ensure proper utilization of workshop tools, equipment, and resources.

  2. Quality assurance and technical oversight.

    • Support mechanics in troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical faults

    • Conduct final quality inspections and road tests before releasing units to customers.

  3. Team leadership and development.

    • Supervise, coach, and mentor mechanics and interns.

    • Daily/weekly team capacity planning.

    • Identify training needs and facilitate continuous technical development.

    • Foster teamwork, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.

  4.  Health, safety and House keeping

    • Maintain workshop cleanliness and organization in line with 5S principles.

    • Report and investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.

    • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.

  5. Inventory and asset management.

    • Monitor availability of spare parts, consumables, and workshop supplies.

    • Ensure proper control and accountability of workshop tools and equipment.

    • Report damaged, lost, or obsolete tools and spare parts.

  6. Customer service and communication.

    • Provide technical explanations and repair updates to customers when required.

    • Handle customer concerns related to workshop services professionally and promptly.

    • Ensure accurate documentation of customer complaints and repair actions.

    • Support warranty claim assessments and technical reports.

  7. Documentation and reporting.

    • Ensure correct data entry to the ERP system.

    • Ensure accurate completion of job cards and service reports.

    • Maintain workshop performance records and service histories.

    • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.

    • Monitor and report key workshop performance indicators.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in workshop operations, fleet maintenance, automotive, motorcycle, or electric mobility services.
  • At least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
  • Proficient in working with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Demonstrates keen attention to detail and effective problem-solving abilities.
  • A valid class C driving license is an added advantage.
