Advocacy Officer

Nairobi, Kenya

THE COMPANY

Ebee is an African scale-up on a bold mission to make cities in Africa cleaner and more livable. We believe that e-bicycles can greatly contribute to this vision. The massive global growth in popularity of e-bicycles has demonstrated their potential to replace traditional two-wheelers and cars for various purposes. In Africa, e-bicycles present a huge opportunity, both for commuting and income generation as last-mile delivery vehicles.

Building a new mobility category of e-bicycles comes with challenges such as affordability and the absence of a service network. To overcome these, we have developed the first e-bicycle for Africa in Africa, which we sell and lease to customers. Additionally, we operate our own fleet of e-bicycles and riders, working with platforms like Glovo, Uber, and Bolt.

As part of this mission, eBee plays a leading role in advocacy through initiatives such as The House of Cycling.

Together with The House of Cycling we make cycling pleasant, safe and affordable for all Kenyans.

The house envisages a Kenya where cycling is pleasant, safe and affordable for all Kenyans and all Kenyans cycle. The house unlocks the cycling potential for future Kenya: healthier Kenyans, liveable cities, developed rural villages, green jobs for all youth, income out of your business, less CO2 emissions, more children able to attend school.

The House of Cycling is the home of the cycling sector in Kenya: it unites the sector and together it delivers value to all members. It is open to as many as possible and ensures the relevance, diversity and visibility of all. The House unites cyclists, cycling clubs, e-mobility sector, government, policy makers, regulators, infrastructure planners, cycling companies, mechanics, cycling entrepreneurs, innovators, investment financiers, and more to come.

The House facilitates a neutral and supportive platform for exchange, collaboration and innovations that translates into growth of cycling in Kenya. Together we build cycling eco system, focusing on services to:

  1. Leverage advocacy, campaign and policy dialogue.

  2. Enhance access of members to investments and finance to grow.

  3. Data and intelligence to present the value and benefits of cycling (for advocacy and investments)
